Seasonal Report

After a definitely more rainy season than the average, also the grape picking time has been characterized by considerable rainfalls which slowed down and made the harvest more difficult.

Harvest

The harvest season followed the historical trends: the Verdicchio grape harvest started during mid September and stretched over mid October, whereas the Montepulciano grape, a fairly late variety compared to the others cultivated in our vineyards, reached maturation from the first ten days of October; this led us to pick the grapes destined to our selections until the first week of November.

Quality and Quantity

Even though the 2010 harvest hasn’t been the easiest to record, the quality of our wines will be excellent anyway, especially thanks to a careful selection of the grapes managed in two different stages: the first one, at the start of the ripening process, reducing the yield to the appropriate levels for the quality to be achieved, the second one, during the harvest, removing the grapes that were showing quality or healthy defect. Never in the past has been more important than this year to locate the more suitable plots, even within the same vineyards, which were showing different quality characteristics and ripening stages. By this mean we could pick and select different grape lots with specific quality features, keeping all our “cru” at the highest levels.
