90 punti a Plenio, Pelago e San Lorenzo. E poi tutti i punteggi agli altri nostri vini

da The Wine Advocate
n° 189 - 30 giugno 2010

Pelago 2006 Rating 90
The 2006 Marche Rosso Pelago is Cabernet Sauvignon, Montepulciano and Merlot, a combination that works exquisitely here. This dark, jammy red flows onto the palate with blueberry preserves, cassis, sweet herbs, violets and licorice in a full-bodied, sumptuous style. All of the elements come together very nicely, even if the tannins need another few years to full integrate. The Pelago is the most convincing of these new releases from Umani Ronchi. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2021.

Plenio 2006 Riserva Rating 90
The 2006 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Riserva Plenio is a single-vineyard selection that was partially vinified in oak. A current release, the Plenio shows the virtues of Verdicchio with a few years of bottle age. Ripe apricots, peaches, flowers and the lightest hints of honey give an impression of richness and voluptuousness. This is a gorgeous effort from Umani Ronchi. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2016.

San Lorenzo
2007 Rating 90
The 2007 Rosso Conero San Lorenzo (Montepulciano) is a sleek, layered red graced with lovely delineation in its aromas and flavors. Juicy red berries, flowers and spices come together in a fairly rich style of Montepulciano. This could use a little more varietal and regional character, but it is undoubtedly well-made. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2015.

Casal di Serra 2008 Rating 89
The 2008 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore Casal di Serra is a fairly ripe, generous Verdicchio with lovely depth in its peaches, melon, mint and flowers. Soft and caressing throughout, the Casal di Serra offers excellent length and a clean, refreshing finish. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2015.

Jorio 2007 Rating 88
The 2007 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Jorio is loaded with blackberry jam, spices, new leather and minerals. This vibrant, fresh Montepulciano offers lovely balance and a clean, refreshing finish. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2013.

Cùmaro 2006 Rating 88
The 2006 Conero Riserva 20 Cùmaro is a rich, dense offering bursting with black fruit, French oak, licorice, tar and minerals. Umani Ronchi seems to have chosen sheer concentration over varietal expressiveness here. This is the 20th vintage of the Cùmaro. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018.

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2009 Rating 85
The 2009 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is a correct, fresh red best suited for drinking over the next year or two. Umani Ronchi’s 2009 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is a correct, fresh red best suited for drinking over the next year or two. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2011. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2011.
