The Montepulciano Harvest, from the Conero to Abruzzo along the Adriatic Coast
September has the rhythm and colours of the harvest as it unfolds. Day after day, we move between the vineyards, the laboratory and the cellar, closely following the evolution of the grapes and refining our harvesting decisions.
At this time of year, the journey of Montepulciano follows the Adriatic ridge, from the Conero area to Abruzzo. Sampling is a crucial step in this process: grapes collected from different points throughout the vineyards are brought to the laboratory, where analyses and tastings provide an increasingly precise picture of their development.
Sugar levels, acidity, tannins, phenolic ripeness and organoleptic characteristics all become part of a broader assessment, combining data with experience and sensitivity. It is a process built on numbers, method and expertise.
And as we follow the ripening of the grapes, the journey continues a few kilometres further south, between the sea and the Gran Sasso, where the harvest carries on under the shade of the canopy at Tenuta Centovie.
In this photo reportage, we follow the final stages of this year’s harvest along the coast and the sea.
