Umani Ronchi receives triple recognition at the Sustainability Award 2026

Sustainability is cultivated in the vineyard and built into a company’s everyday decisions. Umani Ronchi’s commitment has received further recognition at the Sustainability Award 2026, where the company earned three distinctions, securing places in the Top 100 Excellence, Top 75 Innovation and Top 75 Performance rankings, the latter of which it had already entered in 2025.

Organised by Kon Group and now in its sixth edition, the award recognises Italian businesses that integrate environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria into their development strategies. The assessment is based on verifiable data and independent analysis, with scientific input from ALTIS – Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and the Polytechnic University of Milan. The rankings were published in Forbes Italia, the initiative’s media partner.

“This result encourages us to continue the work we began many years ago,” says Michele Bernetti, CEO of Umani Ronchi. “For those of us who produce wine, caring for the land means protecting the resource on which our future depends. But our responsibility also extends to our relationship with the local community and the value of the people who work alongside us every day. Being recognised in three categories is particularly rewarding and motivates us to continue investing, innovating and measuring the progress we make.”

Across the Marche and Abruzzo regions, this vision has translated into a journey that began more than twenty-five years ago. Organic farming practices, introduced in Abruzzo in 2000, were extended to the Verdicchio hills in 2013 and to the Conero area in 2016, alongside ongoing efforts to protect biodiversity and manage resources responsibly.
These initiatives also extend to production and packaging. Solar photovoltaic systems meet approximately half of the company’s annual energy requirements, while recovered water is used to irrigate green spaces. Lightweight glass bottles, which help reduce CO₂ emissions, are complemented by synthetic closures made from sugar cane and fully recyclable materials. Self-adhesive labels and new packaging solutions are also designed with a circular economy approach in mind.

In collaboration with the Marche Polytechnic University, the company continues to conduct research aimed at developing an intelligent and sustainable model of viticulture. Work on managing and optimising water resources in the vineyard is now complemented by a new project focusing on agricultural practices that can help mitigate global warming.

Since 2022, the winery has held Equalitas Corporate certification, confirming its compliance with environmental, economic and social sustainability standards.
