The Umani Ronchi wines chosen by Michelin-starred Chef Abou Zaki for the Retroscena pop-up in Bucharest
For two weeks, Richard Abou Zaki’s Retroscena – the first Romanian chef in the world to have earned a Michelin star and a celebrity thanks to his appearance on Chefi la cuțite (the Romanian version of MasterChef), where he took on the double role of judge and contestant – moves from Porto San Giorgio to the setting of Domeniul Știrbei Vodă, one of the country’s most iconic palaces, nestled within Romania’s largest private park. Here it becomes a true Retroscena pop-up: a travelling version of the restaurant, recreated in every detail, from the dishes to the service, to offer guests the authentic experience of his cuisine and his brigade.
In this narrative where the kitchen is on full display and dishes are presented like theatrical texts, our wines find their place, hand-selected by the chef for the tasting menu:
Casal di Serra Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore
Maximo Marche Bianco IGT
Wines chosen not as mere pairings, but as part of the dialogue between the chef and his audience, in an event that crosses geographical boundaries while preserving the soul of Abou Zaki’s cuisine.
We are proud to have contributed, through our wines and the story of our region, to the success of such an important milestone in the chef’s journey.
