Marche Wines Take Centre Stage: Michele Bernetti Appointed President of the Marche Wine Institute (IMT)
Michele Bernetti has been appointed for a new term as President of the IMT, the region's leading wine consortium, comprising around 500 members and safeguarding 16 designations. He continues the path begun three years ago to enhance the value of wines from the Marche region, promoting their quality and strengthening their presence in both national and international markets. This marks the start of a new phase in a changing context, with the goal of continuing a coordinated and widespread effort.
Supporting him are Vice Presidents Antonio Centocanti (Cantine Belisario) and Mauro Quacquarini (Quacquarini).
“The renewed Board of Directors,” said IMT President Michele Bernetti, “is a reflection of a designation in transformation, featuring a growing number of young board members, small producers, and new prestigious entrants. The same can be said for the business landscape in our
region, which until recently was heavily centred around a few companies. Recent events, paradoxically, may prove decisive in changing the pace of a region as naturally suited as ours, which has a duty to fully communicate the value of its harvest. We are facing a future full of
responsibilities,” Bernetti added, “in which the Consortium must focus on a renewed balance between supply and demand, managing its potential flexibly and in line with an international trend that increasingly favours quality over quantity. This awareness will be the starting point for the new
direction of IMT and its member businesses.”
