Vecchie Vigne 2018 among the protagonists of OperaWine
For the fifteenth time, OperaWine by Wine Spectator welcomes Umani Ronchi. The event will take place on 11 April at the former Mercatali Galleries in Verona, on the eve of the official opening of Vinitaly (12–15 April 2026), alongside the finest Italian producers selected by Wine Spectator.
For this edition, Vecchie Vigne 2018 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore has been chosen as one of the featured wines in the tasting, paying tribute to Italy’s great winemaking tradition through the figures who have shaped its history. An iconic label, an authentic expression of the territory and of the company philosophy, capable of conveying identity, depth, elegance and the extraordinary ageing potential of this grape variety.
Umani Ronchi has been included by Wine Spectator in the “Legacy Icon” category, reserved for the 31 wineries that have taken part in every edition of OperaWine, representing a constant presence in the history of the event and a benchmark within the Italian wine landscape. Alongside them are 69 “Classic” and 50 “New Voices” producers: a selection spanning the entire peninsula, united by outstanding quality despite differences in territories, production styles and company size.
The concept of OperaWine 2026, Finest Italian Wines: Great Producers selected by Wine Spectator, pays tribute to Italy’s great wine tradition through its most emblematic figures: from Leonardo da Vinci to Camillo Benso di Cavour, and including personalities such as Giulia Colbert Falletti, Mario Incisa della Rocchetta and Giacomo Tachis — ideal custodians of an excellence that continues to inspire the present.
To be part of OperaWine once again — and to do so with Vecchie Vigne 2018 — is a source of great pride: a recognition that rewards our work in the vineyard, our long-term vision and the value of a territory that continues to tell its story through its wines.
See you in Verona.
