First tastes: the 2022 whites and rosé on tasting!

The tasting of each new vintage is a ritual that is repeated with the same attention, curiosity and expectation. The harvest trend of the past year is retraced and the moments and choices made are relived. 2022 was a particular year because it saw climate change impacting at a European level, with a very hot and dry summer, during which an attempt was made to mitigate the effect of drought on the vineyards by resorting to all useful practices: the maintenance of the vegetal cover of the soils, the use of natural substances to reduce the risk of sunburn (kaolin), and management of the foliage aimed at protecting the bunches as much as possible from direct exposure to the sun during the hottest hours. The difference with other similar vintages was made in the month of September when a higher-than-normal rainfall brought the drought indexes back to normal levels, transforming the season back into an almost cool one. This recovery allowed the grapes to recover acidity, that beautiful one that accompanied our tastings. From Marche to Abruzzo, below are the first wines of the 2022 vintage and the tasting notes:

Villa Bianchi - Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Doc Classico
Brilliant straw yellow with greenish reflections. The scent is intense and fine, fruity and floral.
On the palate it expresses a pleasant structure based on sapid and fresh notes, in which a finish with a typical hint of almond stands out.
Pairing: Light starters, pasta and risotto with seafood sauces; excellent with grilled, au gratin or baked fish.

Vigor - Marche Igt Passerina
The color is yellow with golden hues. Intensity and persistent aromas of wild flowers and aromas of yellow-fleshed fruit such as peach, apricot and golden apple emerge on the nose. On the palate it expresses a good freshness and flavor that balances a pleasant softness; the finish is dry and intensely fruity.
Pairing: Fish-based dishes, white meats, fresh cheeses, first courses and legume soups.

Fortunae -Bianchello del Metauro
Fragrant wine to be drunk young and fresh, with soft and delicate characteristics starting from the pale straw yellow color with golden reflections. The nose is subtle with fruity and floral aromas.
It leaves a clean, dry, slightly lively palate with a pleasant almond finish.
Ideal as an aperitif with light hors d'oeuvres, mixed and seafood salads, simple seafood dishes and white meat dishes.

Vellodoro - Pecorino
Brilliant straw yellow. It shows fruity and floral aromas with intense and persistent mineral notes.
On the palate it shows a good structure and pleasant freshness with sapid hints of ripe fruit. To be matched with fish-based dishes, white meats, fresh cheeses, first courses and legume soups.

Centovie - Rosato Bio
Delicate pink colour, resembling rose petals, elegant with bright reflections. The nose is floral, fresh, with delicate citrus scents. Elegant and fresh in the mouth, with good acidity which develops hints of red cherry, pink
grapefruit and a pleasant complex and lasting finish.
It goes well with stuffed pasta, roasted white meat, roasted fish.
